PERFORMANCE
Jeep Compass

Let’s start out with what powers these rides. Whether you’re driving to work or going on a road trip, you’ll need a vehicle with a powerful engine, a large fuel tank, and features that can help you take on anything that comes your way.

Pure Power

The Jeep Compass and the BMW X1 start off with very similar engines. In the Compass, this is the 2.0L Turbo engine. The BMW X1 also comes standard with a 2.0L Turbo engine, so it comes as no surprise that both models perform about the same.

With either model, you’ll have at least 200 horsepower and more than 220 lb-ft of torque.

Traction

When it comes to traction on the road, both models have standard all-wheel drive systems. That way, you can feel confident in any sort of weather.

However, you’ll find a slightly smoother ride in the Compass due to its 8-speed automatic transmission. The BMW X1 isn’t far behind with a 7-speed one.

CAPABILITY
Jeep Compass

Of course, if you’re considering a Jeep model, you may be interested in finding out where your off-road adventures can start. Jeep is well-known for off-roading capabilities. While BMW has impressive attributes, most of them don’t cater to off-road enthusiasts.

Choose a Drive Mode

One example of how these models are suited for different needs is in their drive modes. While both models have selectable drive modes, the BMW only has ECO PRO, COMFORT and SPORT modes. In comparison, the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System of the Jeep Compass has these different modes made specifically for a variety of terrain:

  • Rock
  • Sand/Mud
  • Snow
  • Auto
Off-Roading Advantage

In addition to the exciting drive modes, the Jeep Compass offers an advanced 4x4 system that increases your capability to drive low, Hill Descent Control, and more. With a Trail Rated® badge on the Trailhawk trim, you can feel confident about the Jeep’s water fording abilities, maneuverability, and articulation.

While the BMW X1 has Hill Descent Control, it doesn’t have all the extra Trail Rated® features.

INTERIOR
Jeep Compass

If you’re planning your next off-roading adventure, you’ll want to invite some friends along. With spacious interiors and high-tech features, both the Jeep Compass and the BMW X1 have impressive cabins to enjoy.

Room to Stretch

How many passengers can you fit inside each model? Regardless of whether you’re behind the wheel of the Compass or the X1, you can accommodate up to five passengers. However, your passengers will certainly notice a difference in their comfort with these dimensions:

Jeep Compass
BMW X1
Legroom (front/rear) 41.8 / 38.3 inches 40.4 / 37 inches
Shoulder Room (front/rear) 56.7 / 55.1 inches 56.1 / 55.1 inches

Say hello to confident driving!

Pack It All

If you’re packing water, camping materials, or even just some groceries, a decent amount of cargo space can go a long way. In the Jeep Compass, you’ll always be able to use the spacious 27.2 cubic feet behind the rear row. When you’re only driving with a front-seat passenger, you can also fold down the rear seats to get up to 59.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

The BMW X1, while spacious, maxes out at just 57.2 cubic feet behind the first row or just 25.7 cubic feet when you have all five seats full.
